The Role

The marketing specialist will join the Marketing Group, part of the Experience Team, as a critical role to support social media, content development, and marketing operations efforts. The key objectives for the Marketing Group are to expand Minerva’s global awareness, develop initiatives to attract qualified applicants to Minerva Schools, and continue to build a prestigious brand that emphasizes drive, confidence, authenticity, selectivity, and unconventional thinking.

Key Responsibilities

The marketing specialist will work closely with all members of the marketing/creative team on initiatives across channels, media, and audiences. Key areas of responsibility include:

Writer/Editor

  • Support the Marketing team to conceive, write, and act as editor for relevant content, using the Minerva guiding principles to direct and assess your work (Content includes copy for emails, landing pages, social media posts, blog posts, and other channels as needed).

  • Ensure a consistent Minerva voice across various channels (ranging from website copy to social media posts), while maintaining appropriate channel presence

  • Attend student-facing events as required to embrace and understand the student experience to better represent it in writing and editing.

Social Media

  • Monitor and manage social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Snapchat

    • Draft copy, develop content, and execute daily activity across channels

    • Engage directly with our audiences, including answering private messages, public comments, etc.

  • Collaborate with key members of the Minerva staff to:

    • Conceive, curate, and develop visual and verbal content, including documenting live events

    • Promote specific campaigns, events, announcements, news, etc.

    • Modulate posts for global regions

    • Review key activity metrics and audience response to inform refinement of approach

    • Capture, generate, and gather student experience content (including documentation of live events)

    • Work collaboratively with other Minerva teams to identify opportunities to highlight Minerva stories, including staff and faculty thought leadership

Marketing Operations

  • Build, deploy, and monitor email campaigns

  • Develop marketing automation expertise (emails, forms, database segmentation, nurture campaigns etc.)

  • Always ensure that campaign tracking mechanisms are in place.

  • Manage marketing databases (Salesforce and Marketo)

    • Upload leads

    • Develop proficiency in database reporting

  • Manage execution of webinar/Facebook Live campaigns and other live online events

Skills & Personal Characteristics

  • Belief in and passion for fulfilling the Minerva mission: to nurture critical wisdom for the sake of the world

  • Excellent English language reading and writing skills

  • Passion for and excellence in copywriting (editorial skills/experience also highly valued)

  • Comfort interacting with a variety of internal stakeholders, including staff across functions, faculty, Minerva students, applicants, and prospects

  • Ability to manage time well, and work both collaboratively and independently

  • Ability to drive schedules and dates

  • Ability to provide efficient and reliable service to internal clients (Admissions Team, Regional Managers, etc.) with a strong sense of personal accountability

  • Ability to embrace and learn new technologies and systems

  • Ideal candidate will have a college degree in Marketing/Communications, Journalism, English, or related major
